What is EUDR compliance?
EUDR compliance means demonstrating, with geolocation data and due diligence documentation, that a covered commodity was not produced on land deforested after December 31, 2020, and that its production complied with the laws of the country of origin. Companies must submit a due diligence statement for each shipment before it can enter the EU market.
Who EUDR applies to
The regulation applies to companies that place, make available, or export the covered commodities and their derived products (such as leather, chocolate, furniture, and paper) on the EU market — both EU-based companies and non-EU exporters supplying the EU.
EUDR and supply chain risk
EUDR is a significant driver of supply chain risk management and supplier evaluation practices for companies in affected sectors, since compliance depends on traceability data that often needs to be collected from suppliers several tiers upstream.
